Microsoft Flight Simulator has a huge array of scenery developers out there producing all kinds of airports and other types of scenery addons. One of the better known ones, Drzewiecki Design, has just released a new airport scenery for free. Let’s have a look!
Fly in and out of Radom, Poland
There’s plenty of free scenery out there of varying quality. There are gems, like ChicoMick’s EGSU Duxford Airfield or Emerald Scenery Designs array of Alaska airport scenery. There are less impressive options too. Rarely, a payware developer will drop a payware quality product for free (like iniBuild’s Milwaukee Mitchell KMKE) but that’s exactly what Drzewiecki Design has just done with EPRA Radom.
The scenery package includes dynamic lighting, PBR materials, high-definition ground mesh including the runways and taxiways, static aircraft, custom airport buildings, interior airport model, and static aircraft and ground service vehicles.
The scenery is available for free through a variety of storefronts.

Mini-review

Occasionally I’ve done a closer look at some scenery products and I thought I’d do that today because I’m generally appreciative when we, the community, get good quality free stuff. These projects are often not altruistic in nature but a good way to make a splash, remind people of a product portfolio (Drzewiecki Design’s is deep), and maybe convince a few new customers to buy some stuff. No matter the reason, however, I do think its a great way to check something out and see for yourself.
EPRA Radom is an interesting airport. It’s been a military installation for much of its history and often used for pilot training. Civilian operation started relatively recently, in 2014, and initial passenger numbers were extremely low and airlines pulled out of routes supporting the airport. Significant investment in a new terminal and facilities changed that with over 100,000 in 2022. This is also the home of the Radom Airshow which I’ve seen many videos of including, sadly, the one where Polish pilot Maciej “Slab” Krakowian was killed when his F-16 crashed just before the 2025 show.
On a happier note, this scenery pack is really strong when it comes to performance. I own a lot of Drzewiecki Design’s products and they have a consistent look and feel about them. They likely have strict internal targets for texture memory footprint and I have to applaud that because there are a few scenery packages that I own that are nearly unusable because of how much VRAM they consume. No such problem here.
The airport terminal has great texture work on it, especially the stuff that we can see from the cockpit. The terminal interior is detailed, but not overly detailed, and the passenger models give the illusion of a busy facility. The airport support buildings, service vehicles, and out buildings have an appropriate level of detail. Winter textures are decent too! Runway textures are excellent as are the markings.
The nearby area also gets some details added like a neo-Gothic style church (I think its intended to represent Cathedral of Our Lady Care), Broń Radom stadium, as well as the military facilities on and just off the airport grounds.
A Wizz Air A320 and LOT 737 MAX 8 are the parked civilian types while Polish Air Force C-295 and a Blackhawk Helicopter give some life to the military apron side of the airport.
Radom is south of Warsaw and the airport has the potential to be an overflow for Warsaw’s two other airports. When it comes to flying schedule, the airport is served seasonally by Enter Air and LOT with Wizz Air running regular flights to Larnaca, Cyprus. Of course, if you’re not following schedules all that much, you can come up with all kinds of operations out of this airport. It’s military presence gives some scenario possibilities too.
Free is free but this is a payware quality level product, similar to Drzewiecki Design’s other products. The airport isn’t bad for general aviation enthusiasts as well, however, the nearby area isn’t highly scenic (its flat planes as far as the eye can see) so it may not be a first choice there. Easily recommended for airliner and military flying enthusiasts in MSFS 2020 and 2024.
