A new developer update from Black Square’s Nick Cyganski provides updates on one of a few upcoming projects from the Microsoft Flight Simulator developer. The latest focus is on the Caravan Professional which is the spiritual successor to the old Caravan Analogue. Let’s have a look.

Rebuilt from the ground-up

Black Square’s Caravan Professional is a complete rebuild of the old Caravan Analogue project that came out for MSFS 2020. The original updated the fidelity and provided analogue gauges to the built in MSFS Cessna 208 Caravan. This new version is an entirely new product using lessons of the past and the technology base that Nick has developed through several other projects.

The project will release in two separate products (also available in a discounted bundle) with the Passenger version being one and the Amphibian & Cargo being the other. You can choose which version you want or purchase the whole thing.

The new aircraft will have an entirely new exterior model, improved materials, and custom sound by Boris Audio Works (recorded with a real Cessna Caravan). The systems will include Black Square’s turbine simulation and beta range simulation, FOD damage and gyroscopic effects, tablet with visualizations, and hot swapable radio and avionics. Total possible configurations? 12!

Twelve paint schemes, five interior packages, wheels, floats, and the ability to fit it with and without the cargo pod. In short… tons of options!

One response to “Black Square’s Caravan professional makes significant progress”

  1. Also noted are significant flight model improvements, including at least some of those from v2024. 😁

I never got any of the Steam Gauge Overhaul series because I remain rather enamored of the Gx000 glass cockpits. And I can get that from Thranda in XP 😉

BUT I did eventually break down and get the BS Turbine Duke on a fire sale Christmas deal for almost half off.
and it’s just an outstanding addon – can’t say enough good things about it 😎

I skipped the recent Baron & Bonanza because the Duke is just THAT good. However, I do really enjoy that Thranda Caravan for various reasons, and now that Black Square has a from-the-ground-up version, it’s definitely going in my hangar ASAP.
