The latest status update from the folks at Got Friends has come together with news on what the team is working on. There’s some exciting new screenshots of the Taylorcraft BC-12, and a look at some future products as well.

Taylorcraft BC-12D

Got Friend’s ongoing efforts to bring the 1940s Taylorcraft BC-12D to life appears to becoming along.

The developers report steady progress with the 2020 version entering into closed beta testing sometime in March. The native 2024 version will come soon after. The BC-12D is likely to be the team’s last MSFS 2020 aircraft as they’ve found the majority of their customers have moved over to the new sim.

Our plan is to have the Taylorcraft supported for both sims, just to give the last few members of our 2020 community one last strong release. From there moving forward, however, we would really love to focus on one current generation of the sim. This way, we can make the best use of our time refining a project and deliver the ideas we’ve had, without being held back by the limitations of what we can and can’t support for both sims simultaneously.

The BC-12D is coming with 17″ vintage wheels with optional wheel pants, 26″ Alaskan bush tires, Federal 1500 skis, and EDO 1320 floats. You’ll be able to do almost anything with it from the sounds of things!

Future plans!

Updates are coming along for multiple aircraft in the Got Friends line-up with the AS33Me and A-32 Vixxen getting some flight model refinements based on real world pilot feedback together with minor bug fixes and quality of life improvements.

Also in the works is the SuperGrravel. We’ve got the one new developer shot which shows off some very promising model work. The team report that this project will be similar to the PZL 104 Wilga in that it is intended to be a flagship product.

It sounds like this one will be all about customization with further developer comments on their Discord mentioning multiple authentic engine types as well as multiple instrument panels. A side by side comparison of instrument panel options for the project is available here.
