You remember Deadstick right? This is a bushplane flight simulator with objective based gameplay that owes as much to flight simulation as it does to some of the more survival based games out there. We’ve got a new developer diary as the reinvigorated product begins to take shape. In this one we learn a bit about the first of several regions that the sim intends to offer.

Region 1 exploring plus weather conditions

Deadstick is set in a semi-fictional world that draws a lot of inspiration from Alaskan bush pilots. The sim will have 6 regions that have their own unique geographic settings and lore. This first one is named “Waking” and it has a mix of 1 major airport, 5 minor airfields, 1 small strip, plus another half dozen bush strips.

One of those strips is a brewing company which is shown off in a video.

The region is also reportedly milder and subject to less intense storms than some of the other regions. Indeed, one of the early draws for the project was that weather was basically your enemy to be defeated (or to defeat you) in this sim so flying in various conditions are part of the experience… or I imagine choosing to sit it out and jump ahead to a time when the weather is better.

A second video shows off some of the conditions that you’ll be able to experience.

We also get a look at some of the scenery for Deadstick which has improved dramatically from some of the earlier development shots that we’ve seen. Very curious to see where this sim goes and how it manages to stand out relative to other sims on the market.
