A couple of DCS World news items coming in from the most recent DCS World Weekend News update. DCS: Marianas Islands is getting some updates aimed at both details and performance. Meanwhile, a new DCS: F-16C campaign is coming in shortly. Let’s have a look at both!

Marianas update

Eagle Dynamics reports that they are working on further updates to the DCS: Marianas Islands map (the modern version). The updates seem to be aimed at a mix of performance improvements and detail enhancements. New 3D objects, enhancements and fixes for Andersen AFB, new visual landmarks like Bird Island and Fouha Rock, as well as rock and cliff updates. On performance, they say that they are improving building collision models that should solve stuttering when flying near them.

In the comments section, ED Community Manager NineLine, notes that the map team working on this map is apparently separate from the one working on Afghanistan and Iraq – though hopefully they are all taking notes from each other.

New F-16 campaign

Another DCS: F-16C campaign is coming for that module. Fangs Out by Fight’s On Simulations is a 15-mission campaign loosely inspired by the F-16 B-Course and is designed to help expand skills with the jet.

Like many campaigns, this one comes with 2,500 lines of voice dialogue, custom ATC interactions, and complete documentation.

The DCS: F-16C and DCS: NTTR map are required.

No ETA is provided but usually these announcements come shortly before release.
