Jason Williams dropped a special nugget on Facebook and on the IL-2 forum earlier today with some extra screenshots of the impending release of the Spitfire Vb for IL-2: Battle of Kuban Premium owners. The screenshots are US themed Spitfire skins just in time for the 4th of July – American Independence Day.

American pilots flew Spitfires for the RAF during the early days of the conflict (even before the US had entered the war) and later the USAAF actually operated some of its own squadrons with the Spitfire as well. Most of these squadrons later switched to the Merlin-powered Mustangs which no doubt offered a similar experience for veteran Spitfire pilots.
