Originally meant to last until the end of the month, IL-2: Battle of Moscow and Collector Plane sale ends today. This sounds like a bad thing but there’s a little more to it.

The official word

First, here’s the full official statement posted this afternoon to the IL-2 Facebook page:

Attention Pilots!

Due to a scheduling conflict the current “Collectober” promo for BOM and Collector Planes will end tomorrow, a few days earlier than originally scheduled. If you wanted to take advantage of this special, you have a few more hours to do it. Don’t worry another special or sale will be on the way soon.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

If you hurry, you can still get the sale until the end of today (October 23rd). Now here’s the twist…

Steam Sale dates leaked

The extremely likely reason for the “Collectober” promo ending is because it is being replaced by the upcoming Steam sale. Because the IL-2 store is tied into and essentially mirrors Steam sale periods it makes sense that they can’t (or shouldn’t anyways) run two sales at once.

An article posted two days ago on Forbes.com mentioned that the sale dates for Steam have been leaked. Reportedly, the Steam Halloween sale begins October 26 and lasts until November 1. 1CGS/777 Studios will undoubtedly be taking part.

What’s going to be on sale?

No information is available right now. We’ll have to wait until the 26th (probably) to find out the full details. Does it mean that Battle of Moscow, Battle of Stalingrad, or some of the Collector Planes will go on sale? Probably some or all of those.

And what about IL-2: Battle of Kuban? With it still in Early Access pre-release its extremely unlikely as it already has a $10 discount.

As always…stay tuned for more information as it develops!
