Another busy week for DCS World fans and while I was able to cover much of it during the week there were some new things that came out today and a few that slipped past me as well. We’ve got updates covering the gamut of the series so let’s have a look!
A-10C upgrades underway
There have been several announcements over the last few months that Eagle Dynamics would be doing an overhaul of the DCS: A-10C. It looks like they are already well underway with some of the 3D mesh work required for this update. This is, very clearly now, more than just a texture update but rather a reworking of the cockpit.
And we have some examples to look at as well.
You may notice that some of the objects in the new arrangement appear to be lower in detail, however, several 3D artists in the community have suggested to me and others that this is actually not a problem (for reasons I have difficulty grasping). Once in-engine these details should look both better and have higher performance. These days the 3D mesh is just a starting place for all of the layers of textures, lighting, bumpmaps, and shaders that ultimately make up the scene.
The A-10C was mentioned alongside the Ka-50 in the DCS World Weekend News Update. Both are expected to get a major update possibly as early as the end of this year.
AI aircraft updates underway too

Responding to some of the chatter in the community that some DCS World AI aircraft could use a visual upgrade, Eagle Dynamics this week chose to mention some of the aircraft that they are planning on working on:
Over time, we will also update other older models like the C-17, Tu-95, and others. However, given the extreme detail put into each of these modules, it takes time.
DCS World Weekend News #184
F-14 startup and new Meteor track
The third video in Heatblur’s DCS: F-14 training sequence is out with a 24-minute explanation of how to do a full and complete startup for the F-14.
Now, if 24-minutes sounds long, remember that this is an indepth tutorial of the start-up sequence. A member of the r/Hoggit community estimates that a fast startup can take as little as 3-minutes in a bare minimum start-up assuming the INS is partially pre-aligned.
If you’re looking for something to keep you humming along until release, check out this new track from the Heatblur DCS: F-14 soundtrack by Meteor.
AV-8B gets new voice warnings
RAZBAM is still slowly working away on the AV-8B and this time around we’re seeing some progress on adding additional voice warnings to the Harrier. The following video shows off the updated warnings:
JDAM coming to DCS: F/A-18C soon
GPS guided munitions are coming to the DCS: F/A-18C as this new screenshot released earlier in the week shows off. There are several modes of employing the JDAM type munition and they will be starting with Target Of Opportunity (TOO) mode with additional options to follow.

D/L SA page and HARM TOO mode are planned (though not guaranteed for next week February.
Things keep going rolling for all DCS World modules which is, as always, great to see!
