One of the fun things that the 1CGS team has done over the years is include a few thematic additions to the hangar based on the time of year. For April 12, we have a rocket in the hangar!
Russia and several other former USSR countries celebrate Cosmonaut Day on April 12. The date marks the first manned space flight. The flight was made by 27-year-old Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in the Vostok 1 aircraft.
Though I was aware of the accomplishments of Yuri Gagarin (I love spaceflight almost as much as air), I didn’t know about this day until now.
Fun ‘Easter Eggs’
This and other kinds of content like this, including the Christmas tree and lights that now appears during the holidays, are fun ‘Easter Eggs’ included by the developers. This is a time honoured tradition used by development teams all across the software industry and little ones like this are a lot of fun. Other developers, such as DICE, have gone on to include some much deeper challenges involving secret elevators, Morse code, and giant sea creatures jumping out of the water. This is a fun diversion by comparison.
What else does 1CGS have in store for us down the road? I’m up for a few fun things appearing on some choice holidays.
