IL-2’s patch 3.101 is promising to be a big one although we don’t have a full picture of everything that will be available, the team promises over 70 points of changes coming. Of course the Me262 is the headliner here for many of the fans of the series along with the Albatross D.Va and S.E.5.a.

Get ready for the Schwalbe

It’s been a long wait for the Me262 for IL-2: Battle of Bodenplatte aircraft but the Me262 is up next and it is coming along sometime next week if all indications are correct. We have some news about it and the other aircraft in Battle of Bodenplatte – all of them will be now coming with 4K textures.

The plan is to have the external textures of all Bodenplatte aircraft in 4K quality. This is possible thanks to new texturing techniques and the help from our community members =ICDP= and =BlackHellHound1=. For instance, today we can show you the Me 262 as you’ll see it in the coming update – in all 4K glory.

Han on the IL-2 developer diary

Here’s hoping for 4K textures by default on all future aircraft and a continual back-fill of older aircraft to bring them up to par as time goes on. 4K textures add sharpness and detail to aircraft being most noticeable up close and in situations where you look out your wing or across large surfaces of your aircraft.

The Me262 will come with 4K textures by default and several new screenshots are out showing off the work.

What else is in this patch?

Aside from the Albatross D.Va and S.E.5a I’m actually at a bit of a loss when it comes to new features and updates coming in 3.101. The version number has jumped and with news that 1CGS is introducing at least 70 new point items as updates in this patch, its reasonable to assume that they have a very long list of updates to come.

1CGS has been working on a long list of features and items. Updated damage models for tanks, internal fires and smoke effects, multiple new aircraft are underway (and I’m not expecting any surprises there) and the Bodenplatte map is surely well underway now too though I also don’t expect that to come.

Regardless of the updates, 1CGS has indicated that this patch will be significant and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on it. My best prediction is that it will come sometime early to mid next week.

Me262 world premier at FS Expo 2019

FS Expo 2019 has dozens of exhibitors and booths setup by some of the biggest names in the industry including Thrustmaster, X-Plane, FSElite, Aerosoft and more. 1CGS is one of the exhibitors at FS Expo 2019 coming up in just a week’s time and they are bringing with them some 6DOF motion rigs plus VR setups to the show floor to show off IL-2 and, according to this latest developer diary, do the world premier for the IL-2: Battle of Bodenplatte Me262.
