It’s day one of Flight-Sim Expo and I’m here to cover the expo and everything that is going on here today. Some big notable items that will capture the attention of my regular readers is the worldwide reveal of the Me262 at 1CGS’s IL-2 booth. Thrustmaster’s new Hornet grip is here. And there’s lots more to see.
I’m going to be updating the blog throughout the day so check back for updates.
Community meetup
If you are here at FS-Expo today, we’re organizing an informal IL-2 community meetup at 3:00 pm at the 1CGS booth. Stop by and say hello!
First Me262 video
Here are a couple of short 262 videos.
Roger Meatball
While most simulation is meant to be serious and take lot of time to learn, Roger Meatball aims for something lighter, quirkier, but no less serious in what powers it. Jon Coughlin who is programming a sophisticated physics engine into the Unity game engine to create Roger Meatball.
More about it soon!
Infinite Flight
Another sim I checked out today was Infinite Flight. A full featured flight sim on… an iPad. How they do it is incredible but despite all odds this very serious simulation just works. And has a big following.
I’ll be revisiting this later too.
Active Sky
One of the X-Plane and P3D add-ons I checked out was Active Sky. Their highly detailed weather simulation bringing in weather models and historic weather modelling is just incredible sounding.
Thrustmaster Hornet
The big news from Thrustmaster is their new Horner grip which I had a brief chance to check out. It’s super comfortable and it feels very authentic (though I’ve never sat in a real cockpit).
A great day!
It’s been a great day and I spent a lot of it meeting people from all across the community. I had the chance to meet with people like Jason Williams from 1CGS and Matt Wagner from Eagle Dynamics.
More to come tomorrow and no doubt some more fully featured writing to come.
