The aircraft factory at Carenado is busy working away on their next project – a Cessna 170B for Microsot Flight Simulator. This classic Cessna aircraft takes us back to an earlier aircraft with plenty of historic charm. Let’s have a look at what’s coming!
Classic Cessna
Carenado has announced a Cessna 170B for Microsoft Flight Simulator with their usual barrage of screenshots. Most Carenado aircraft are visually impressive and this one appears to be keeping up with the rest of the family.
The Cessna 170B is a slightly modified version of the earlier Cessna 170 that was first introduced in 1948. There was an explosion in the aviation world as former military pilots returned to civilian life and many of them were looking to keep up their flying. The 170 tapped into that market and became the predecessor to one of the most produced aircraft in the world (the Cessna 172). In 1952, the Cessna 170B was introduced with some modifications to the wing, tailplane and fuselage and this became the template on which many more Cessna aircraft would follow.
The type is powered by a Continental C145-2 air-cooled flat-six engine with 145 hp. It’s also a tail dragger unlike the newer Cessna models so that should make it a bit more interesting to manage in MSFS.
