Jason Williams, the Executive Producer for IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles, is a hands on producer who has on more than one occasion ventured to a museum to gather photos and data for one or more aircraft that the series is aiming to include. Yesterday, he posted a cryptic teaser and we, of course, have been trying to decipher the meaning.
On the road again?
This post on the IL-2 forums has attracted lots of attention. It has a link to a music video featuring the works of “On The Road Again” with Glen Campbell and Willie Nelson.
Why this song? Why the duet with Glen? It’s all connected man, it’s all connected…groovy!

The community has responded with a couple of pages (so far!) of guesses, jokes, and musical appreciation. I looked for obvious references in the lyrics to see if there was any sort of clue as to where he might be headed but nothing.
Someone suggested he was heading to Galveston which had me look up the Lone Star Aviation Museum (which has several warbirds) but that seems to have been in-jest. Still, it’s close enough that it could be reached from Las Vegas where Jason is based.
I unfortunately have no other guesses to feed the rumour mill. We’ve seen guesses about the Pacific, the B-25, research for the new Collector Vehicle tanks which have been mentioned, and so forth. At this point, I don’t think we really know anything except that Jason is off to research something new and that only means good things in my mind when it comes to future plans for 1CGS.
Can’t wait to learn more!
For some reason Jason’s comment made me think of Kelly’s Heroes.

How about some reference to the end… Battle of Berlin? That would be great for late war German (Luftflotte 1 & 6) & Soviet planes.
