Third party aircraft maker Carenado have unveiled their latest aircraft to come to Microsoft Flight Simulator in the form of the Cessna Skymaster II. Let’s have a look at the screenshots and learn a bit more about this unique aircraft.

Push-pull Cessna

The Cessna Skymaster is a push-pull propeller driven aircraft that features an engine in the front and an engine at the back of the fuselage giving the type twin engine capability but without the associated drag of mounting two engine nacelles as you see on most GA aircraft.

Not without its quirks, the Skymaster was required to takeoff with both engines active otherwise the takeoff run would often exceed the short runways that it often operated from. On the other hand, in the event of engine failure, the Skymaster was able to fly as a conventional single engine type into a home base without the associated challenges of asymmetric thrust.

The Skymaster that we’re getting has the conventional six-pack and what appears to be the standard Garmin GNS530 as well as an added display for weather radar information.

Carenado has confirmed that the Skymaster will be available on the MSFS Marketplace for both PC and XBox users. An exact release date has not been given but will likely become available in a couple of weeks following the release of Sim Update 7.
