Biplane fans might want to check this one out. Aeroplane Heaven have taking the wrapper off “The Barrel” or in more technical terms a Grumman F3F-2 biplane for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Let’s have a look!

Last of the biplane fighters

One of the last of the biplane fighters and the last to operate from a US Navy carrier deck, the Grumman F3F-2 is a classic 1930’s era biplane with some design features that you can see carried on into the newer products in the Grumman line (you can see where the Wildcat and then Hellcat come from with this aircraft).

Aeroplane heaven advertise that the aircraft has high quality 3D model and PBR textures, custom WWise audio, carefully animated systems including the unique landing gear system, accurate flight dynamics and some custom code to help with MSFS’ typically poor handling of tail draggers in the sim. There are also 7 authentic liveries available.

The F3F-2 from Aeroplane Heaven can be purchased from their website.

  1. If you sit back and take all of this in, it’s a no brainer: AH’s beautiful artwork, fighter plane aerobatic performance, favored by it’s pilots, open cockpit biplane, AND legitimate aircraft carrier operations? SIGN ME UP!
