We have news from DCS World third party developer Aerges with a new video and a brief update on the status of the project. Let’s have a look.

Headed to testing

A brief update from Aerges came out today on their Facebook page with news that Aerges have sent the module off to Eagle Dynamics for testing. As with all third party modules, a point is reached where the aircraft is “ready” and then it goes into their own testing process to make sure that it’s ready for release and inclusion in an open beta.

Here’s what Aerges had to say:

We are writing this message to let you know that we have sent our Mirage F1 module to ED for internal testing. Also, please notice the attached basic video with a couple of spin maneuvers to demonstrate some of the flight model capabilities. We are working to provide you with more F1 related content in the coming weeks to prepare for the release of the module.

Weeks away from open beta?

In my experience, we’ve seen that DCS World modules can often take several weeks and occasionally months to hit the open beta after they have been received by Eagle Dynamics. That said, it bodes well for the project that Aerges are ready to send it of for testing. Even if that testing process takes some time, it still likely means that the Mirage F1 is heading to DCS sooner than later.

We do, of course, live in some uncertain times and we don’t know if the testing and release process will be affected or not. Aerges are planning to provide us with more details as we get closer to release so stay tuned for more.

    Not a plane I would buy, but I’m glad to see something possibly coming to fruition.

    No where’s my F-15E?

    If Aerges/AvioDev made it, then how could I resist? If it’s as good as the C101, then it’s going to be one of the better modules in DCS by far 🙂

      That’s what I’m thinking. The C-101 is a relatively unknown aircraft and yet whenever people talk about it, it gets glowing reviews. I really should check it out.

        The C-101 suffered a lot from an initial release with a simple flight model, lack of content, lack of the attack variant and laggy multicrew while the L39 albatross was available and complete with full multicrew and both trainer and light attack variants.

        Then Aerges (Aviodev) suffered lack of programming crew and the project was stagnant for a while. At some point it was feared it would be another “Hawk”, but they delivered so much that now it has surpased the Albatross as the best trainer aircraft available in DCS.

        I can tell you because I have both of them. The albatross suffers now from its “russian” heritage, having only russian type navigation systems while its external model and internal textures are certainly dated.

        On the other hand the C-101 offers multicrew, top notch external and internal quality, plenty of light armament (including anti ship missiles!) and western avionics. TACAN, ADF, VOR… also we got 3D NS340 in both the trainer and the light attack versions, while the Albatross can only mount it on the trainer version (and you have to forfeit the gyro sight for that!) Take into account that 3D NS340 was the only way people with VR could use the NS340 since it wasn’t available for VR until a recent patch several months ago.

        That being said, both the L39 and the C101 are wonderful planes, but if I have to pick one NOW, it is C-101 all the wa.

        PS: I’m spanish so I might be a bit biased.

        It’s a GREAT module, keeping in mind the IRL limitations of the aircraft.
        Reminds me very much of JustFlight’s Hawk in XP & MSFS.

        If I could have it my way, we’d have the AvioDev C-101 in MSFS and the JF Hawk in DCS 🙂

    We’re more than likely going to need more soviet study level aircraft for the Cold War server.

    Everyone is going to be riding in Mirages F-5’s and F-4’s. Other than the M-24, the red side will be empty.

      Yeah. There are a couple in development with Red Stars Simulations doing a MiG-17 and RAZBAM has been working for a very long time on the MiG-23MLA. Rumours are that Magnitude-3 are also doing a Su-17 or Su-22.

      None are imminent.

    Not sure if I will buy it but I like planes of this age. fast load and no complicated displays.

    Between this and the MiG-23, it’s going to be interesting to see how they affect Enigma’s Cold War server.

    They got such character of their own too. So underated.
