Today’s been an interesting one for the DCS World rumour mill. Word had come out that RAZBAM was working on a UH-60 for DCS World. Then later we learned that a UH-60 is not planned for public release. What’s going on and how does it connect, if at all, to their previously teased helicopter “secret” helicopter project. Let’s have a look!

Here’s what happened
This is what happened or as close to what happened as I can gather. A screencap of a message written by Ron Zambrano was recently found by community members which then spread quickly across the community.
The original quote, which I can no longer find, was screencapped (then copied and then posted on Reddit, Discord and elsewhere) from Ron Zambrano’s LinkedIn where wrote the following.
we are creating a UH-60 DCS version, using the advantage of that simulators engine’s rotary wing dynamics which IMHO are unparalel currently, I’ll keep in touch.

Another RAZBAM team member has confirmed that this is a real quote but that it was intended to be part of a private conversation. The follow up was made by RAZBAM_Prowler on their Discord server.
OK, so to be clear, and i will use caps: THERE WONT BE AN UH-60 BLACKHAWK FOR DCS FROM RAZBAM SIMULATIONS, if anyone want to jump in any kind of hype wagon or bashing spree (which i wont allow here, other places i don’t care) it’s under their own responsability, thanks.

Follow-up comments tell us a few more pieces to the story. Although the comment was made in a public place, Ron apparently did not think that the community would see a more obscure LinkedIn comment and thus didn’t think that it would create the big news story that I and the rest of you are now reading about.
We can speculate on what exactly Ron was talking about but we do know that RAZBAM does do professional contract work and that they are regularly at industry shows. They are presumably on the lookout to make connections that are outside of the entertainment side of the experience. This is not unusual as we know that Eagle Dynamics and other third party developers are often doing the same.
So, the TL;DR is that RAZBAM are not formally announcing a UH-60 for DCS World but they may be making one for a private contract.
And what about the secret helicopter project?
We do know that RAZBAM have something that the community are calling the “secret helicopter” project. That stems from a post made a year ago by RAZBAM_Elmo on DCS World community forums (including the r/Hoggit group) advertising something new on the horizon. That came attached with an audio clip that people have been speculating about for some time.
The UH-60 project and this are, as we’ve been told, not related projects.
Of course we know little else on timeline or how this fits into the kaleidoscope of other projects that the RAZBAM team have on the go ranging from DCS: South Atlantic to the DCS: F-15E Strike Eagle, and a myriad of other projects including the MiG-23MLA, Super Tucano, IA-58 Pucara and more.
If the situation changes, you can be sure I’ll be reporting it! In the meantime, if you want a UH-60 experience in DCS World there is a very good community mod available to fly right now.
