The ball is now rolling as Microsoft Flight Simulator fans now have two new detailed airliners to choose from with Just Flight’s “146 Professional” and Leonardo Software House’s “Fly the Maddog X” have just released. The prices are high but the details look to be offering the kind of depth that airliner fans have been looking for.

Just Flight’s ‘146 Professional’

Based on the four-engine BAe 146 airliner, Just Flight have been developing the 146 Professional for quite some time now. Their past efforts for X-Plane 11 and P3D v4/5 have shown that they have a solid grounding in the aircraft already, however, through the course of development we’ve learned that they have poured a lot of effort into upping the visual details to match the new sim.

Included in the package are eight variants of the aircraft including the 146-100, 146-200, 146-300, 146-200 QC & QT (cargo), 146-300 QT (cargo), CC.Mk2 (RAF VIP configuration with countermeasure pods), and C.Mk3 (RAF cargo configuration with countermeasure pods). There are 4K and 8K PBR textures and a couple dozen liveries for a wide variety of airlines and specific liveries. There’s also a PSD Paint Kit available so you can make your own.

There’s also extensive system modeling for this aircraft. An autopilot system with VLOC, BLOC, LNAV, and HDG modes starts us off. There’s also an EFB giving you control over pilot and cabin announcements, fuel quantity per tank, quick select aircraft states, GPU, chocks, SimBrief flight import, and Navigraph chart integration.

The aircraft comes with an FMS using the Working Title FMS as a base. The FMS has realistic flight planning built in complete with AIRAC cycles, SID, STAR, holding pattern and SimBrief import functionality. It also supports the MSFS flight planner.

There’s also detailed communication, electrical, flight control, fuel system, hydraulic system, and more.

JustFlight is selling the BAe 146 Professional for $64.99 USD on the Just Flight store.

Leonardo Software House’s ‘Fly the Maddog X’

Modeling the popular McDonnell Douglas MD-82, the developer reports that they have created an aircraft with sophisticated modeling. They use the words “study level” in their SimMarket store description suggesting that the aircraft is extremely detailed. Like the Just Flight 146 Professional, Leonardo’s efforts here come on the heels of a detailed P3D v4/5 release.

The aircraft reportedly includes all systems, avionics and tests including failures. It includes PFPX/SimBrief flight plan loading, a livery manager, and livery-based cockpit colour and main panel variations. There’s a configurable load manager and a wide variety of aircraft options that let you select the cockpit units, flight director style, VOR instrument versions (VOR/ADF/DME, VOR/ADF and VOR only), altimeter versions, and even a flat or cone tail. Fly the Maddog X also comes with 16 available liveries.
