The hype is building for the DCS Mirage F1 by Aerges with the promise of a screenshot every day until release keeping us fed with a steady flow of beautiful new screenshots. That together with a new tutorial video from RedKite released today helps us get ready to tackle this new jet. Let’s have a look!
Relight tutorial
The latest Mirage F1 video from RedKite is here and its a short video aimed at teaching us a critical technique in the event of a flameout. Like some other jets from this era, the Mirage F1 can experience a flameout in certain extreme angles of attack. If that happens, a relight procedure must be followed or the aircraft may become unrecoverable.
Aerges is keeping up with the promise of a new screenshot everyday until release. This is what’s been released so far. More are expected until release which we don’t yet have a firm date on but is likely to come within days or weeks at the most. Keep an eye on the Aerges Facebook page for more.

Well, the creator of the F-15E is RAZBAM and not ED or Heatblur, so the sadness will continue forever…

That’s really too bad you feel that way. RAZBAM’s Mirage has turned into the most accurate and overall ‘best’ module in DCS. Heatblur, while good, is a bit overrated by this community.

RAZBAM has taken some hits for some of the things that they’ve done but they have also earned kudos for some of their good work. M-2000C and AV-8B are now solid modules and they stand up very well.
It might take them some time to get some traction with the F-15E as well but if they stick with things I think it should mature into a good product. It’s not out yet, its not likely imminent, and so judgment will have to be withheld.

Well, I try not to be pessimistic but let’s be honest, RAZBAM does not have the level of quality or put the same effort into its modules as ED or Heatblur which, for me, are the standard that any Third Party should aspire to. The F-15E is a plane that many people have been waiting for too long and I personally don’t like the idea that RAZBAM is doing it.
However, I am not a hater blinded by hatred towards RAZBAM (in fact I have the Harrier and the M2000) and I await the arrival of the Strike Eagle, but I will never get rid of the thorn. I repeat, it is my personal opinion. I hope the F-15E comes out and shuts me up, but we’ll see. Greetings.

So, apparently both the French and the Iraqis used the Mirage F1 during Desert Storm.
So you can legit use this as a Red Force or Blue Force aircraft.

I love the ‘not top tier’ aircraft, demanding effort and skills. Not sure I’ll buy it, but I like this era for the franchise. I know people enjoy their WW2 stuff but unless they can make a Pacific module (ie not single aircraft but something formed and usable a la BoX) then I strongly feel that they should focus on / encourage their contributors to consider 1951 onward.
But that’s a view, not a business case..

IMHO I think DCS’ third parties diving into that Cold War era 1950-1970s ish era is a more unique experience and the one that people seem to be loving.

Nothing wrong with Razbam … at all.
I love the AV-8B (even from the beginning) and of course the huge Falklands map.
Will be first to pre-order their F-15E … don’t even think to be first 🙂 !
