VIRPIL, the makers of high-end flight sim peripherals have just announced that their new USA webstore is open. Here are some details you might want to know if you’re looking around at new flight sim hardware.
New storefront
VIRPIL makes some really great gear. I’ve had the opportunity to review several pieces including their excellent WarBRD base and grip and their MongoosT-50CM3 throttle. Getting them shipped over from Europe to North America usually meant paying extra in duty and fees. Now, US based flight simmers will be able to take advantage of the fact that VIRPIL now has a USA based warehouse and support center.
In an e-mail announcing the opening, they wrote:
This isn’t a virtual storefront – VIRPIL USA will be dispatching orders from our new warehouse location based in the US. As well as providing in-house local servicing and support!

Might just look into having shipped north. The problem is what kind of duties and brokers’ fees there might be. Don’t want a $200 surprise.

Probably less than coming from Europe but I don’t know. Sometimes it feels like North American free trade is for big companies only.
