As days go, today is a pretty big one for DCS World as the 2.8 point release has come out and with it some core updates including new dynamic clouds, lighting and shadow updates, and more. Today is also the day that IndiaFoxtEcho’s first module releases to the sim with the launch of the DCS: MB-339. There’s a sale on right now too! So lets get into it!
MB-339 releases
Flown by several air-forces and used for its aerobatic prowess by the Frecce Tricolori and Al Fursan aerobatic teams, IndiaFoxtEcho’s DCS: MB-339 started life as a well regarded mod and has since become a full fledged module. On a side note, IndiaFoxtEcho also offers the MB-339 for MSFS!
The aircraft comes with the usual array of features including an EFM (extended flight model) with the aircraft flight characteristics being verified by real world pilots. It has high resolution textures, highly detailed model, deep systems modeling, single player missions, interactive training missions and a mini-campaign.
The DCS: MB-339 is now on sale through the DCS e-Store for $59.99 USD. It also gets a high quality DCS World trailer that plays up both the modules combat as well as aerobatic capabilities.
Here comes 2.8
DCS World 2.8 is out as of today with a new open beta release – those on the release version will have to wait a while before their version catches up. DCS World 2.8 brings in a whole series of updates to the core of DCS World.
One of the big ones is moving weather fronts. The clouds will now move across the landscape and flow with the wind. I’m not sure how much dynamism is present beyond that feature but it is still a feat for the DCS engine which previously had static clouds.
There are other standout features with DCS: Persian Gulf seeing some visual enhancements and lighting updates – particularly at night. The lighting system for the whole sim has apparently been tweaked.
The long awaited modern jet BFM AI update is here with some substantial updates to the AI’s ability to dogfight. The results appear to make the AI fly smarter in modern jet match-ups while also mitigating or eliminating some of the weirdness that we saw with the AI doing things like endless loops.

Halloween sale is here
Eagle Dynamics have launched a Halloween sale for 2022 with 50% off most modules and discounts on most of the rest. The sale is on until the 6th of November at 23:59 GMT and its only on the DCS World e-Store.
