1CGS have shown off the first two aircraft planned for the Flying Circus Vol 3 package in new screenshots. There’s also an update about the air racing tournament.

Halberstat and Nieuport

The Halberstadt D.II and Nieuport 11 are the first two aircraft set to arrive for Flying Circus Vol 3. The package is not yet on sale but was announced some time ago. Both aircraft appear to be visually far along with exteriors and cockpit views shown.

Check out the screenshots.

Both types are earlier models with both types having been introduced in 1916 and the Nieuport famous for ending the “Fokker scourge” and ushering a short era of Entente air superiority.

1CGS are also reminding everyone about their air racing special event. Everyone who runs the course before June 11 will receive a small gift – unspecified as to what that is – then competitors will progress from the qualifying round with a chance to win something more substantial from 1CGS and Virpil.

  1. Good show for continuing but I am finding it hard to build much enthusiasm for the series.

    Here we go again. Again.

So the queue is a bit different than the roadmap wallpaper shows? I expected Albatross D.II and Nieuport 17 first… But no matter in what plane I jump in first, I can’t wait! Especially because I never played RoF and I have absolutely no experience with every incoming plane, that makes me ugly curious 😅
Sometimes I think about how many updates the rest of the year offers to put the eight FCIII planes ( plus the announced WW2 collectors) and the final release with complete career and Western Front map inside.
However, I hang around my little airfield and wait the Halberstadt D.II and Nieuport 11

  3. FC and TC are the two parts of the series I really want to see succeed due to their comparative rarity – RoF was an important simulation for me and I’m glad to see it continue in FC. Still have mixed feelings regarding the developer, as stated prior, but it’s still good to see Great War era aviation simulation continuing (along with WOFF).

  4. Is Ugramedia still using flat 2D impact craters and 2D trenches in the FC terrain?

We don’t know what, if any, upgrades are planned for the map although we know it will expand in area.

  5. I never really cared much about flying the WW1 planes, but a few months ago when I’d completed all the WW2 campaigns and had repeated the pilot careers a few times, I jumped into an Albatross. What a revelation! It was like learning to (virtually) fly all over again. Since then I’ve been spending perhaps half my time in IL2 in the old FC kites and I’m getting a little better. The bombers are a real challenge but it seems, like most things virtual flight related, it’s something that needs to click and it feels like it’s starting to. But the fighters are just so much fun. OK, the AI is perhaps the least challenging of any in IL2 for some reason but it’s still a lot of fun. And the slower speed means I get to look at all the work they’ve done on the Western Front maps.

I had a similar experience years ago. It took me a while to get a good feel for the WWI birds but once I did, I was hooked!
