Flight Sim News Round-up: June 17, 2023 – Sales, updates, and more!

Plenty of news to go around in the world of flight simulation and here are some of the ones that I haven’t had a chance to report on this week. There’s a couple of sales going on right now, we have some new development information, and there’s lots of chatter about what’s coming up with Flight Sim Expo. So let’s have a look!

Hardware and software sales

We start with the folks at VIRPIL who are offering a summer sale lasting until June 30th. Get 10% off all VPC products with their discount code: VIRPILSUMMER10. This sale appears to apply to both EU and US stores.

Meanwhile, the folks at Tobii are offering up a 15% off sale for their Tobii Eye Tracker 5 knocking the regular price of $275 down to $237 USD. I recently reviewed the Tobii system and its now my default headtracking solution. Stormbirds is also an affiliate so if you do decide to purchase do that through this link.

Drzewiecki Design is also having a big sale with 40% off on nearly all of their product line which includes dozens of high quality airports for Microsoft Flight Simulator. You can learn more about their products here and then check out which stores to buy in here. They are also offering a bundle deal with 50% off on iniBuilds website if you buy two items at once. Sale lasts until the 30th.

Super Sabre update

Grinnelli Designs have tweeted news that their team have updated their project tracker showing off the latest efforts of the team towards building their DCS: F-100 Super Sabre. The project, announced last summer, appears to be making good progress with code now showing as 50% complete, art at 25% complete and the total project at 38% complete.

Flight Sim Expo talk

The folks at Laminar Research are reporting that their FSExpo booth is going to be ‘EPIC’ with the latest information and software from ToLiss and Flight Factor, a FAA-certified simulator from RealSimGear, full motion and VR sim setups and some helicopter controls from ProFlight Trainer.

Yawman are going to be showing off their portable flight sim controller at the expo and have tweeted that you can use the Yawman on a plane and on a train! Mobile flight simming looks to be something they are very much keen on proving as a concept.

Meanwhile, iniBuilds are teasing that there will be airliner news at FSExpo and have left us with a teaser of a nicely detailed engine. If anyone is really keen at figuring these kinds of things out we might be able to make some guesses. To date, iniBuilds have been creating Airbuses with the A300 and A310 for X-Plane and the later for Microsoft Flight Simulator as well. We’ll know very soon now what they are planning!

Nemeth Designs has released the S300 CBi

Nemeth Designs have released their Schweizer S300CBi for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The helicopter is available from their website for $21.09 USD.

And the news keeps on coming so stay tuned for much more!
