We’ve got some spooky stuff happening tonight. As the kids ring the doorbell and yell “trick or treat” I’m also busy writing up a few stories that have popped up today with a slight Halloween twist to them.
Combat Pilot

We’ve got a short message from Jason Williams and the Combat Pilot team together with an image that is not a screenshot. The image is reportedly a rendering and lighting experiment but it does feature the team’s new 3in. / 50 cal. gun model.
Here’s what Jason had to say as well:
Our first Halloween together! Oh how I used to love doing Halloween sales for you all. Hopefully next year maybe. Halloween kicks off the Holiday Season here in America which is my favorite time of year. Remember that time I made some actual flying witches? If you celebrate Halloween tonight enjoy your candy and trick-or-treating with the kids and be safe if you attend a party!
Jason Williams on the Combat Pilot forums
It may be optimistic but I sure hope that Jason is right that they can start talking about releasing content and even offering up a good old fashioned Halloween sale by next year. Godspeed to the Combat Pilot team!
FlyingIron Simulations teases new products

A couple of new aircraft are being teased in FlyingIron Simulations social media posts tonight. Ghostly red glow from a radial engine appears to belong to a radial engine warbird – perhaps a B-17 although my brain says B-25.
Meanwhile the second image, sporting a spooky purple glow is almost certainly a Hawker Hunter.
Both projects are likely intended to come to Microsoft Flight Simulator given their recent track record (meanwhile their DCS: A-7 project continues on).
MSFS live stream

Microsoft Flight Simulator community manager Chewwy hosted a fun livestream earlier today as part of their regular ‘Tubeliner Tuesday’ series. This one did a short hop between Cluj International Airport (LRCL) and Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (LROP) in Romania. Chewwy was flying the ATR airliner for this little hop.
Cluj International is located in the Transylvania region of the country. The area, of course, has a rich history but is well known outside of Romania thanks to Bram Stoker whose gothic horror novel, Dracula, used Transylvania as a setting. You should be able to catch the replay on the MSFS Twitch channel.
X-Plane spooky factor
Laminar Research are getting in on the spooky side of things too with this screenshot of the RotateSim MD-11 landing in some heavy fog. The screenshot also shows off the work in progress volumetric lighting system which is expected to come to the sim later on as a fully supported feature.
