Earlier in the year I wrote my full review of the DCS: Mi-24P Hind for DCS World and in it I was critical of very little save for a lack of included missions to fly the helicopter in. Its easily one of the most fun helicopters to fly and fight in… and Eagle Dynamics is plugging that one weak spot by introducing an official campaign for the module. Also, we get a look at an updated Shrike missile. Let’s go!
Hind gets a campaign

The new campaign, titled ever ‘Revenge’ or ‘Revanche’ (its written as both in the update), shares a narrative with the Flaming Cliffs 3 Su-25 campaign. The campaign puts you in the seat of a Mi-24 countering a Georgian force concentrated on the south-eastern side of Enguri River.
The campaign and new 3D pilot models are both slated to come to DCS World in the next open beta update.
Shrike update

The AGM-45 Shrike was among the first generation of anti-radiation missiles that were developed and used in the 1960s. The missile was weapon of choice on the specialized F-4G Wild Weasel SAM hunting jets as well as on the multi-purpose F-4E – an aircraft that is due sometime over the next few months from Heatblur.
This update will bring with it both a visual refresh, with a much more detailed missile visual, as well as modeling depth. The real world example had 10 interchangeable seekers as it wasn’t possible at the time to make a multi-band radar seeker.
The different bands will be selectable in the mission editor once updated. From the looks of things mission editors will need to understand which radar bands are in their mission (or are at the target zone) so that the appropriate seeker can be fitted. How this will work in multiplayer remains an open question but hopefully there’s a good way for this missile to be used there too.
