A new developer update from 1CGS give us a look at the R.E.8. This is the final aircraft in the Flying Circus Vol 3 set and these screenshots give us our first look at it plus some more images of the winter version of the map in the background.
R.E.8 on the way
Much of the Flying Circus set has featured single seat fighters but there are an increasing number of two seat options in the series now too and the R.E.8 is the latest to join them. The R.E.8 has a mixed reputation with one of its first combat outings on April 13, 17 resulting in all six aircraft being shot down with no German losses. Nonetheless, over 4,000 were constructed and were flown by 16 squadrons. They served in artillery spotting, reconnaissance and bombing roles to the end of the war.
The news today is that the R.E.8 is entering into beta testing alongside the WACO glider and next week were set to hear about the IAR 80 which will also be entering testing. Good news.
