A new developer update is out from the team at 1CGS and we have some new screenshots and details on the IAR 80/81 Collector Plane. There’s also a new Tank Crew feature and a warning for career mode Flying Circus pilots. Let’s have a look!

Nearly complete, coming in two steps

Revealed quite some time ago now, the IAR 80/81 for IL-2 Great Battles Series is nearly complete and ready for the rest of us to fly. The aircraft has been setup as two aircraft within a single purchase with the long and short variants coming with their own modifications, flight model and liveries.

The first version, the short version, is expected to arrive in the December update due in a week or two while the long version will follow along and come before the end of the winter. A unique scenario for the aircraft all around.

Formally, the I.A.R.80-A fighter series 106-150 will be the base version with B series, -M and Series 151-175 modifications available. All with different armaments and the last one having a dive bomber capability with a sling system, similar to the Ju87, that positions the bomb clear of the propeller arc prior to release.

The 1CGS team are also looking for recommendations for a cockpit photograph. Get in touch with them if you have specific recommendations.

Tank Crew artillery feature

A new video has been released showing off a new Tank Crew feature. The audio is a bit hard to hear but suffice to say its a system that lets you tilt the artillery sighting system left and right to enable better aiming on targets at long ranges.

Flying Circus career warning

Fans of Flying Circus will want to pay attention to this one. So many changes have been made to both the map and the career system that apparently the career system will not be compatible with old career mode campaigns that are currently in progress.

A quick heads-up: please note that due to the sheer amount of changes we’re making to the Flying Circus Career mode (not only is the map much more populated but new aircraft have been added and its timeframe starts earlier) it will not be compatible with the existing careers using this map. If you currently have an ongoing WWI career, we recommend finishing it before December 19th when we will release the new update. Alternatively, you can wait for the update to start a new career.

Now you know!
