The development of Aerosoft’s A330 airliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator has gone through some tumultuous times and it looks like the road to release is moving a little further afield. Here’s the latest.
Delayed
Aerosoft’s A330 has seen its share of delays and challenges but things in the back half of 2023 seemed to be pointing in a positive direction. Whatever the challenges are behind the scenes, it’s caused Aerosoft to push the project further out.
An announcement made today across social media and on their website explains.
Following a thorough evaluation of the project, we have decided to shift the development and release of the A330 around the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This will allow us to greatly expand the focus of the project – including multiple engine options. Additionally, we are planning to release both the CEO and NEO variants of the A330 simultaneously.
Aerosoft A330 dev update
While news that Aerosoft were making an A330neo variant is not new, the release plan with simultaneous launch of both variants is new as is the focus on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. It’s slightly unclear then if the project will also be available for the current iteration of the sim, however, the implied meaning is a focus on the next version.
The other news is the multiple engine options with the Rolls Royce engine option previously being the only one on offer.
Rough track record
It has been a bit of a rough time for Aerosoft with their DHC-6 Twin Otter project having been pulled from sale, their CRJ series not having seen an update since the middle of 2022, and their third project, the A330, having seen a protracted development cycle including the departure of a long standing member of the team.
Hopefully 2024 will go better for the team at Aerosoft.
