Two updates are coming tomorrow for Microsoft Flight Simulator fans with World Update 16: Caribbean together with Local Legend 14 which … is a mystery helicopter. We don’t know what it is yet. Here’s what we do know!

Warmer climes

If you live in the northern hemisphere, it’s winter right now and until today we’ve hardly seen any sun for almost two months. Dreaming for warmer conditions sounds good right about now so a little trip down to the Caribbean sounds great to me – enter World Update 16!

Included in the updates are 104 new points of interest, 7 bespoke airports, 3 new bush trips, as well as new landing challenges.

Helicopter hint

Local Legends and in-fact all releases up to now have been conventional aircraft of one kind or another. This first Local Legend for 2024 promises to be something different: our first helicopter.

Offering up a hint on social media just an hour ago, the official Microsoft Flight Simulator account told us that the next Local Legend would also be revealed tomorrow. Our hint? A helicopter emoji. Doesn’t take much to read between those lines.

Releasing alongside it will be Local Legend 14. We’ll announce the specific aircraft tomorrow, but here’s a hint: 🚁

MSFSofficial

Best guess is that it is a helicopter on the simpler side of things rather than some of the more complex experiences offered by CowanSim or HPG for example. That said, Asobo have typically partnered with established third parties on previous projects so this could easily have come from one of those or another third party. We’ll know tomorrow but feel free to guess away for tonight!

One response to “World Update 16 tomorrow plus mystery helicopter”

  1. Hmmm….

most of the more common helos in the tropics are already present in the game (i’m thinking of those operated by tour companies, et al).

That hasn’t stopped Asobo before, though…

And truthfully, some of their “Local Legend” choices have been questionable in terms of “localness”.

Just thinking back to v2024 previews, maybe it’s an AS350?

or, maaaaaaaaybe a UH-1? Those could be “local legends” in so many countries, tho….
