The latest work in progress images from Team Fusion Simulations is focused on their B-17, Fw190 and Typhoon models for IL-2 Sturmovik: Fortresses and Focke-Wulfs DLC add-on. The Typhoon has been featured before and appears to be the furthest along but other key aircraft such as the Fw190 are clearly heading in a good direction and we’ve got some great views of their B-17 being worked on – if you loved those cut away drawings of aircraft as a kid this will probably grab your interest. Let’s have a look!
In-development B-17, Focke-Wulf and more
We start with some recently posted images from the Team Fusion Simulations group member ATAG_Snapper who posted images of a work-in-progress B-17. You can see the interior components and many of the details that go into making an IL-2 Cliffs of Dover Series aircraft a reality.

Later I’m sure we’ll see the B-17 come together but for now we can see the details that make up the engines, turrets, pilot and bombardier positions, and more. It also provides an example of the challenge of creating such a complex aircraft – one that Team Fusion is tackling with quite a bit of enthusiasm from looks of things!
Next up, we have a new image from Buzzsaw of the Focke-Wulf Fw190 and the damage model in the process of being put together. You can see here a composite of the underlying structure as well as the wing textures and the damage textures on that revealing the underlying pieces. The note mentions too that the cockpit on display there is not the one that the pilot will see which is covered by a separate 3D model.

Finally, there’s a composite of images from the Typhoon Mark IB that we’re being treated to. This aircraft is among the furthest along with the images showing off the aircraft in action in the simulation engine.

These were posted together with a link to the ATAG forums where there are even more images of the Typhoon such as these few plus dozens more showing off different squadron schemes and unique markings. RAF aircraft tended to not have very many unique markings but some did. Check them out!
