The slightly sleeker bigger brother of the Kodiak 100 is coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator thanks to SimWorks Studios. The follow-up to their prior release is well underway and in a new update we get to see the latest work that they’ve done on the aircraft and learn a little about the airplane itself too.

Bigger, faster

SimWorks Studios has devoted most of their developer update to fill us in on their new Kodiak 900 project. The 900 is a follow-up to the 100 and SWS are following in the real world aircraft’s footsteps by giving us a virtual follow-up as well. The Kodiak 900 is overall a similar aircraft to the 100 but with some key differences.

Those differences include a bigger passenger space, 900 horsepower engine, and aerodynamic refinements that include a blended cargo pod and wheel pants. The aircraft is faster and can carry more but it has more restrictions on places that it can land and take-off and landing distances are shorter.

The cockpit is mostly the same and SWS in a previous update reported that improvements they have made to their modeling and texturing techniques will come to both 100 in an update as well as the 900 from the get-go.

We’ve also got our first look at the cargo/cabin area which is still a work in progress. The previous version gave us several configurations and though we don’t have a complete list, the update implies that we will see a bunch of options.
