The DCS: F-16C and DCS: F1 feature prominently in the latest update together with fixes for Oculus/Meta Quest VR users, and the release of the new Mi-24P Outpost Campaign. Check out the summary below.

An overview of the latest update

We’ve got quite a bit packed away in the latest DCS World update and here are some highlights that you may want to know about.

We start with the DCS: F-16C which has picked up some new features. There is a new G-effect system that includes loss of colour, tunnel vision, and blackout features which have all been adjusted. Eagle Dynamics report in the notes that blackout now occurs at approximately 30 seconds, instead of 9.5 previously, assuming a G-warm up. There’s a new INS/GPS logic system now in place that is far more detailed than before. The engineering details were mentioned in the last DCS World Weekend News update. There are unsurprisingly a host of fixes as well aimed at fixing more minor bugs.

Aerges have dropped a number of updates into the last update for the Mirage F1. Here we start with the radar which picks up new standby functionality and has a new more realistic warm-up period. New vibration effects have been added when deploying the airbrake at high Mach, and the cryptographic computer unit has a new texture added. Speaking of IFF, there are a series of fixes and updates to the jet as well including a new default mode 2 code of 2000 and default mode ‘N’ on hot start.

Other modules saw revisions and updates including the F/A-18C, Mi-24P Hind, JF-17, BlackShark 3, as well as tweaks to over a half dozen campaigns.

Folks flying with VR will be pleased to know that the recent trouble with Oculus/Meta Quest 2/3 v63 software has also been fixed in this latest update.

A new campaign has also been added to the mix: Stone Sky’s DCS: Mi-24P Outpost Campaign.

After the recent turbulence between Eagle Dynamics and RAZBAM, we are seeing in this latest update no changes, updates, or fixes to any RAZBAM modules. The last word we’ve heard on that officially remains RAZBAM CEO Ron Zambrano who made some encouraging remarks. Restating my hope and belief that this recent trouble will pass us by and we’ll see updates coming to RAZBAM modules again soon.

  1. As a non F-16 Viper driver the update was a little underwhelming (sorry….) but I did spend time hurling bombs into the ground and trees to check out the new over pressure effect 🙂

Actually I should be more positive – I love the F-1 Mirage and its nice to see more updates coming to what I think is a fantastic module (truth be told -I’m using it to get used to the F-4 Phantom)

  2. RazBam is writing its own epitaph with all this. I love my DCS, but I’m hesitant to part with my money at this point for any DCS product. And RazBam… trust in them is paper thin at best. This has been handled badly by both sides. And ED just playing it’s usual game of stony silence and locked threads does nothing to restore trust.

Oh well, at least the PMDG 777 for MSFS should be out soon. MSFS isn’t nearly as a good as DCS, but at least I’m certain the planes I buy for MSFS will still work in six-months.

    Bummer. 😦

It’s definitely hurt not only RAZBAM but the sim as a whole. Hopefully that’s a short lived thing but I know it will take some time for confidence to be regained.

      1. Well let’s get that confidence restored! Shame to have such a great flightsim under dark clouds.

I think and hope we’ll get there too. Things have settled down some.

    2. .I think youre being unfair to ED. As a publisher and rights-holder (essentially the paying client with regards to subcontracted module-builder partners), the right move is to do exactly what they did. Refrain from public comment until having spoken with your partners to resolve the issue. Im not sure what one would expect them to do , because they wouldnt want to disparage the parties and relationships and say something they regret. (like a less savvy studio might do, ex: Razbam)

  3. the thing I love is that the C101 is still getting a steady stream of updates!

I’m not sure how Aerges grew from Aviodev, but the passion to continually improve their modules pretty much every single update is nearly incredible 😃

I’ve had a bit of difficulty following the saga but Meta Quest users apparently couldn’t use DCS after a software update. I’m just glad its fixed for them.

  6. I was kind of dead in the water without my Quest Pro working. Im really glad they pushed out this patch in whatever scoped-state they could to get it out fast. it was a critical showstopper issue.

I had to do two weekly-ops with trackIR. reminding me of how much faster and more detailed the game runs in flatscreen but also very much reminded of why i never want to fly without VR again.
