The DCS: F-16C and DCS: F1 feature prominently in the latest update together with fixes for Oculus/Meta Quest VR users, and the release of the new Mi-24P Outpost Campaign. Check out the summary below.
An overview of the latest update
We’ve got quite a bit packed away in the latest DCS World update and here are some highlights that you may want to know about.
We start with the DCS: F-16C which has picked up some new features. There is a new G-effect system that includes loss of colour, tunnel vision, and blackout features which have all been adjusted. Eagle Dynamics report in the notes that blackout now occurs at approximately 30 seconds, instead of 9.5 previously, assuming a G-warm up. There’s a new INS/GPS logic system now in place that is far more detailed than before. The engineering details were mentioned in the last DCS World Weekend News update. There are unsurprisingly a host of fixes as well aimed at fixing more minor bugs.
Aerges have dropped a number of updates into the last update for the Mirage F1. Here we start with the radar which picks up new standby functionality and has a new more realistic warm-up period. New vibration effects have been added when deploying the airbrake at high Mach, and the cryptographic computer unit has a new texture added. Speaking of IFF, there are a series of fixes and updates to the jet as well including a new default mode 2 code of 2000 and default mode ‘N’ on hot start.
Other modules saw revisions and updates including the F/A-18C, Mi-24P Hind, JF-17, BlackShark 3, as well as tweaks to over a half dozen campaigns.
Folks flying with VR will be pleased to know that the recent trouble with Oculus/Meta Quest 2/3 v63 software has also been fixed in this latest update.
A new campaign has also been added to the mix: Stone Sky’s DCS: Mi-24P Outpost Campaign.
After the recent turbulence between Eagle Dynamics and RAZBAM, we are seeing in this latest update no changes, updates, or fixes to any RAZBAM modules. The last word we’ve heard on that officially remains RAZBAM CEO Ron Zambrano who made some encouraging remarks. Restating my hope and belief that this recent trouble will pass us by and we’ll see updates coming to RAZBAM modules again soon.
