iniBuilds Milwaukee Mitchell (KMKE) for MSFS arrives tomorrow, for free

Payware quality scenery for free? Sounds good to me! iniBuilds have just announced that their next airport project, Milwaukee Mitchell (KMKE), will be free and coming to the iniBuilds webstore tomorrow.

I’ve become a bit of a collector of MSFS airport scenery packs and my collection is about to pick up another airport thanks to iniBuilds and their new Milwaukee Mitchell International airport (KMKE) which is set to release tomorrow – for free.

The airport includes the usual range of iniBuilds features including hand-made ground textures, dynamic airport lighting, landside recreation including parking lots, signs, vegetation, as well as interior modeling of the airport terminal. GSX support will be available.

iniBuilds also looks to be addressing criticism that some of their scenery packages are a bit heavy on frame rates as they mention LOD optimization, latest MSFS SDK support for best performance and iniBuilds own iniManager which will let you configure the airport for better performance if needed. One assumes that one of the things that you can change is to turn off the interior of the terminal if you want to.

The airport should prove to be versatile for those interested in recreating real world operations. United Southwest, Delta, American, Spirit, and Jet Blue are just some of the passenger operators while FedEx and UPS both fly cargo operations. NetJets, Ameriflight, and PaccAir all also operate from here. Like I said… versatile!

    I grew up 20 minutes from Milwaukee and never really done payware yet for MSFS2020 so this is very temping. Will it eventually be in the MSFS Store? Or you have to get it from their site, hence why it’s free?

      I don’t know if it’ll be in the marketplace. I think part of the impetus for free scenery is to encourage adoption of the iniManager store application. It’s actually a good app and if you have any other iniBuilds aircraft that you fly, including the free A310, there’s a livery manager built in.

        Thanks for the info. I feel like I have to support them to show my thanks! A lot of these scenery builders overlook Wisconsin airports. Maybe we get overlooked being so close to Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis. We have some cool islands and places to fly to too! 🙂

        Yeah Milwaukee isn’t an airport that I would have figured they’d do necessarily but for free and looking as good as it does in images… definitely going to spend some time flying in and out!

    While we’re at that, KOSH would be good to have a more complete setup – maybe an AirVenture option as well so we can do proper FISK approaches in crazy traffic. I know there’s a free version out there, but the taxiways and all the extras need a bit more work yet. At least KMKE is there so far, which is good to see!

      I live in Oshkosh! I’m surprised there isn’t a detailed EAA Airventure version or payware version to practice flying in like you mentioned. You’d think that would do pretty well with so many people coming here every year.

        Yeah I’m surprised too! It’s such a destination for real world aviation and there are VATSIM events around it but I haven’t seen a scenery for it – maybe we both missed it?

        Same actually, attending school for A&P mech. Funny thing is xplane has all the ramps at least, but none of the dots or camping sites etc. MSFS seems to skip out on the Basler ramp + tech school which would be great to have for flight training and exploration.
