Lots of DCS World news coming out right now and the only way to keep up is with a round-up! We’ve got a couple of new F-4 videos, some F-4 content news, new information from AviaStorm on the Tornado, new info from IndiaFoxtEcho on the MB-339 and G.91 and even more The Gamblers content that I missed earlier. Let’s go!
A few F-4 teasers
The curtains are peeling back from behind the release of the DCS: F-4E Phantom with some new videos coming out from notable DCS World YouTube channels. The first one is this great little dogfight teaser from Tricker featuring a short but quick dogfight complete with some Sidewinder and Sparrow missile use. Looks terrific!
Next up we have RedKite who did this fun teaser called “Pavespiked.” Here’s part of the description which really says it all:
Heatblur’s F-4E is almost upon us! Take a close up look of Pave Spike targeting pod in action. Simple, crude and designed for one pass acquire and attack, it’s unlike any targeting pod you’ve tried in DCS before.
It’s edited to add to the teaser layer of this but it should be interesting to see how using the Pavespike in the sim works. Presumably we’ll see some great new tutorials from RedKite!
Growling Sidewinder is duking it out with a MiG-21 in this vs series with the F-4 here. Lots of cool stuff here!
And that’s not all of the DCS: F-4E content yet… because mission maker SEDLO has announced that his mission Gulf Guardian is going to be included with the F-4 at release.
Here’s part of the description:
This mission is inspired by events in the Persian Gulf that occurred in the 1980’s. After a US Navy ship is hit by a wayward missile, the President deploys the 68th Tactical Fighter Squadron to the region in an attempt to calm the tensions. Filled with realistic voice overs, immersive ATC and AWACS taskings, this mission may push your abilities to the limit. In-game options such as immortality, easier adversaries and skip-to push can aid you as you learn about flying the F-4, and allows you to tailor your gameplay experience to suit your style.
Sounds terrific and if its like all of SEDLO’s other missions, it’ll be fun and highly immersive!
IndiaFoxtEcho provide a DCS update
It’s been a short time since we last heard from IndiaFoxtEcho on some of their efforts for DCS World but we now have a short update.

The first part of the note indicates that the team are almost ready to deliver the DCS: MB-339’s flight director. The director is based on a complex PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) control system. Testing is underway and the feature should come in the next update.

Meanwhile, work is also underway on the DCS: G.91. We’ve learned that the team have been evaluating the visual quality of other recent DCS World releases and have decided to rework the project to a higher standard. They have reportedly vastly improved the 3D models and have added more small details while also reworking textures.
AviaStorm Tornado update
There’s a short video coming from AviaStorm showing off the 3D model which is apparently nearly complete. Both the exterior and the cockpit are shown off and are apparently now ready to go to the texture process.
You can also see that the developers have done a fit test to make sure that their interior cockpit fits into the exterior 3D model. Neat!
The Gamblers intro
Released a couple of weeks ago, I’ve recently been doing a bunch of The Gamblers and Baltic Dragon content with a preview of the first few missions here and an interview with Baltic Dragon here.
Even better is a short overview of the campaign thanks to both Baltic Dragon and John “Rain” Waters who is host of the Afterburner Podcast and whose experiences in 2014-15 and Operation Inherent Resolve are part of the campaign. Give it a watch!
