We’ve got a great status update from SimWorks Studios on a bunch of projects that the team are working on right now. Solving some of the PC-12’s flight model woes, trying to bring the Okavango Delta back to life, and moving the GA-8 Airvan towards release. Let’s have a look!

PC-12 updates

SimWorks Studios have been updating the PC-12 quite a bit since release. The aircraft is generally impressive except for some oddities with the flight model which the team appear to be working on sorting out.

Today’s update indicates that they have solved an engine thrust issue which has, in turn, solved some take-off and climb performance issues. Level flight performance, climb, and now descent and landing with flaps at 15 degrees and 30 degrees are apparently all now in specification for the airplane. Not everything is sorted yet as they say flaps at 40 cause the airplane to yaw to the right at the moment – problems to be solved.

One way or another, I’m glad to hear that SWS are continuing to work on this aircraft. I have a review in the works on it but I am holding off to see how things get sorted out with the airplane.

SWS are planning to release these updates by early July.

Okavango Delta and GA-8 updates

SWS’s Okavango Delta scenery pack has been around since the early days of MSFS, however, following Sim Update 13 the scenery has not been working properly. It has been pulled from sale while the source of the problem has attempted to be found. Reportedly the scenery works better under Sim Update 15, however, it takes 45 minutes to load. The team are working to solve these problems before putting the project back on sale.

The other update we have is about the GA-8 Airvan. The team are currently polishing up some details in the cockpit, adding animations, cargo, a custom Volt/Amp meter, sounds and all of those other little details. The aircraft will come with five liveries and they have decided to allow for an optional KFC225 autopilot. They expect to finish the project around the end of June and then polish it for release through July.
