Normally I don’t post when a company does an update to their website but every so often an update does catch my attention and this one is a potentially very useful one for IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles flyers. It’s a museum section with an overview of every pilotable vehicle in the game. Let’s have a look!

Eagle eyed community members have noticed a new addition to the IL-2 official website. There’s a menu item called ‘Museum’ and inside is a very useful resource that provides an overview of every pilotable vehicle in the series. You can view them all at once or check out individual sections like Fighter, Transport, or a generic Vehicles that covers the series’ tanks and mobile AAA guns.

Each featured vehicle includes the history of the aircraft as well as specifications. These are the same specifications found within the sim or on the IL-2 forums. This is arguably a nicer way to display it and these details are derived from performance metrics from within the sim so they really do offer a useful overview of data.

The only thing I don’t see in here yet is the aircraft from Flying Circus but I hope that they will show up eventually too.

This is a great resource and something that overtakes my old aircraft gazetteer section that I haven’t had a chance to update in a long time. I may just retire it altogether thanks to this new resource.
