Some interesting news coming out of MicroProse with an announcement that they are entering into Microsoft Flight Simulator development with a series of aircraft that they are calling the ‘Heritage Valor Collection’ and their first aircraft is a B-17G. Let’s have a look!

Heritage of the B-17

MicroProse are calling it the ‘Heritage Valor Collection.’ A series of high quality add-ons for MSFS 2020 and 2024. These are going to be WWII themed aircraft and to start things off they are doing a late model B-17G banking off of some history with the aircraft in the company.

“We are incredibly proud to bring the Heritage Valor Collection to the flight simulation community,” said David Lagettie, CEO of MicroProse. “Our goal is to deliver an unparalleled level of authenticity and detail, allowing users to experience the greatness and power of these historic aircraft.”

A flight sim community veteran is at the helm with Sérgio Costa, author of HeliSimmer.com emerging as Project Development Manager at MicroProse and head of the Heritage Valor Collection line of products.

“Developing these aircraft is a challenging endeavor due to the numerous variations, even within the same block or sub-version of the aircraft. Accurate references are often difficult to find, as even museum-preserved aircraft don’t fully capture their historical authenticity,” said Sérgio.“We have been collaborating closely with consultants to enhance visual realism and access various resources that aid in fine-tuning the flight model and systems.”

Trailer and other materials

So far we just have the press release and a few materials like the image the top of this article and this trailer which should be live at time of publishing. More information will be available on a new MicroProse website dedicated to their Heritage Valor Collection.

  1. Great finally something seriously is moving at Microprose, how long are the rumors going on about a new B17 combatflysim. Even Jason did explain he was going to work at Microprose, after the Russians kicked him out (which was another lie).
OK it’s not combat, and a part of MSFS DLC.

  2. So that’s 2 B-17s coming for MSFS!

Hopefully not too pessimistic, but I’m glad Flying Iron is still doing their own. As excited as I am for the return of Microprose and their B-17 stuff, they have very little to show for it so far. It is still a little early though and they are obviously hard at work.

Would love to have the problem of 2 unique but outstanding B-17s to choose from.

      100% agree.

And, at least theoretically, A2A Sims might bring their AccuSim B-17G from P3D at some point, too. Which would be an embarrassment of riches, to say the least.

I will say that the video trailer shows an outstanding level of modeling. And having Sergio from HeliSimmer in there gives me hope for a great flight model, too.

  3. So here we’ve been waiting on any scrap of news from Micro Pros about the bloody 100th… and this is the news we get? I love MP, but my God they’re the absolute worst at communicating with their followers.
