It’s going around these days and the latest news is that the Boeing 707 that Aeroplane Heaven is working on for Microsoft Flight Simulator is delayed.
Coming in Sim Update 16
Famous Flyer 10 was due to come out yesterday and instead we saw the release of the C-46 Commando which admittedly made me forget all about the 707 that was due. Unfortunately the 707 is delayed while some additional work is being done on the project.
A statement has been posted by Microsoft to their Facebook page and around the community:
We know that many of you were looking forward to the release of the Boeing 707-320C today. We apologize for not getting the word out sooner, but as we were reviewing the release candidate, it was clear that the aircraft still needed some more work in a few areas and we decided to give the team at Aeroplane Heaven more time to ensure a high quality release. We don’t have a specific new date yet, but the plan is to release the 707 alongside Sim Update 16. Ultimately, what’s most important is to deliver a fantastic aircraft and we will keep pushing to make that happen in the coming weeks.
We know the developer on this project has been working on the Boeing 707 for over a year now. Developing an airliner is obviously a complex process and there’s considerable excitement and attention being pointed in the direction of this aircraft. The depth of the simulation is not likely to approach some of the higher end solutions but a fun and enjoyable 707 experience would still be worth some sim time. Hopefully the delay will enable the 707 to come out in the best shape possible.
They say Sim Update 16 is likely to be when the project is released which is currently beyond the roadmap listing. At one point it was also the case that Sim Update 16 would be coming after MSFS 2024’s release which would make this delay a significant multi-month long delay. Plans may have changed.
