A couple of big updates coming out from SimWorks Studios in recent days to catch up on. They are talking about their 727 project which sounds really exciting. They also have updates on the RV-8 and PC-12 with updates on the Kodiak 100 and 900 coming soon.

727 initial efforts

Classic airliners are really getting a boost these days with SimWorks Studios having thrown their hat into the ring to create a Boeing 727 (the second that I know of for MSFS). The project is a collaboration between SimWorks Studios and FSReborn and is a multi-stage project.

They will be starting with the 727-200ADV passenger variant with expansion packs for the 200F, -100, VIP, fire, oil spill control and Zero-G ship. They report that each of these will be affordably priced and install on top of the base package. They are building this for MSFS 2024 and aiming to make use of the full capabilities of the sim.

Steam gauges and FMC/MFD combo are anticipated as well as Parallel 42 immersion effects support.

RV-8 and PC-12 news

Some news incoming on the RV-8. They have 2-blade and 3-blade propeller sounds being integrated and the aircraft has been “cleared through factory review.” That sounds like the project is very nearly ready to release and they say as much with a paint kit coming on July 15 and the plane releasing in the last week of July.

The PC-12 is getting some serious work done on it with corrected performance values after a bug was found in their code. Takeoff has been improved, trimming is a little less intense for takeoff and the nose comes up more easily. Yaw stability is better and the right yaw tendency with flaps 40 has been solved. Crosswind handling is still being worked on.

The update doesn’t have a date on it yet and SWS have slightly pulled back on releasing it until they have sorted out some of the oustanding items. I did personally get to fly the updated version at FSExpo and it definitely was flying better. Looking forward to trying it on my own setup!
