Team Fusion Simulations work on their Fortresses and Focke-Wulfs DLC for IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover series continues to be moving along with new screenshots showing off the B-17 and Fw190 models as they progress through different stages of development.

Fortresses and Focke-Wulfs

We’ve got new images from Team Fusion Simulations with the first being a render of their B-17E model. The images are work in progress of the aircraft as its being modeled. Team Fusion has reconfirmed that the B-17E will be a flyable type with the pilot, bombardier and turret positions modeled. They are electing to not do the waist gunner positions nor the radio or navigator positions due to their limited utility in the sim and the huge amount of extra resources that would be required to model them.

There are even more images available here.

Meanwhile, another aircraft from the title of the new add-on is getting ready for implementation. The Fw190! Here are some images of that aircraft.

The Fw190 will join the Typhoon which has already been shown in-engine.

More updates sure to come soon!

  1. I applaud this developments but I would be more anxious to know when the VR-feature will be available. I only fly in VR at present and will only buy this simulator when VR is available. I don’t know whether this is the right place to post this comment but I cannot imagine the Team Fusion developers not reading this website.

  2. They said VR would be a priority after Tobruk released years ago. They then had to slash the price by 50% so it clearly didn’t do well. The multiplayer is absolutely dead. The UI is awful. Why would anyone play Cliffs of Dover Blitz when 1946 with BAT mod and Great Battles Normandy are better.

    1. Why would anyone play Cliffs of Dover? For starters it’s meeting combat flight simmer demands by giving us flyable heavy bombers. We also can fly the Beaufighter, P-40C and E, Wellington including torpedo bomber variant (which along with the He-111 we can attack ships ranging up to battleships), D.520, WW2 biplanes, and F4F to name a few. It also will cover lesser depicted parts of WW2 in combat flight sims.

Yes, it is frustrating that VR has been delayed for far longer than it should have but this is the only chance of properly depicted Night Bombing 1940-42, El Alamein, Malta and Sicily and USAAF Strategic Bombing 1943-44. 1CGS has no plans to cover these places along with the Battle of Britain and Tobruk and wouldn’t even if TFS didn’t get in there and revive the game. I feel we should just be grateful that we will even be getting this stuff because if not 1CGS or TFS then who else?
