Microsoft Flight Simulator users are affected by the Xbox outage that is currently ongoing.
Services are down
Multiple sources including Neowin are reporting that the outage began at around 7 pm EDT this evening and that both account & profile information as well as store & subscription information services was affected.
Those core services expand outward and affect all kinds of games including the sign in for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Users are reporting difficulty getting in across various flight sim communities including on the MSFS forums.
I have read that some services are in the process of being restored but that it may take a while for everything to come online.
Hopefully we’ll be back online and flying again soon!
Update (July 29 7:56 am EDT)
Reports from users and from the Xbox services are that Microsoft Flight Simulator access is back online, however, global outages of Microsoft services related to service service Cloudstrike appear to be causing problems everywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see access fluctuate while this global issue is worked out.
I’ll update again if more specific MSFS information comes out.
