Coming out on the heels of the release last week of the Westland Scout and Wasp helicopters for Microsoft Flight Similator, we have a new Aircraft Discovery video that gives us some history, talks about the features of the aircraft in MSFS, and goes into some of the details. Let’s go!

History and more

Regular readers know that I love a bit of history with my aircraft and this 25-minute Discovery Video feature starts off with a really interesting look at both the Scout and Wasp as well as a bit of background history on British aerospace manufacturing in the 1960s and beyond. It’s fascinating if you love history like I do!

Then its on to an examination of the details of the helicopter. The video feature turns towards textures and modeling as well as looking at how this helicopter is put together. After that they take it on a test flight and show off the Scout and Wasp flying (off a ship for the Wasp). If you’re at all interested in this helicopter, definitely check out this discovery video.

  1. Wont be on my to buy list but it’s a but of nostalgia aircraft for me – remember aT airshows the RNZN operating them before the Seasprite came into service. I always remember looking at it in horror – thinking how ungaingly/ugly it looked when compared to something like the UH-1

      It’s not a beautiful helicopter, that’s true! 🙂

      1. Indeed- there’s something really British about it isn’t there (not trying to offend, but think most of your readers understand where I’m coming from).

It was always interesting to see it at airshows though, seemed to be a spritely thing and that’s the kind of thing you want to see as a kid at airshows

Oh it’s terrifically British absolutely! There’s charm there even if its not a beautiful helicopter.

Spritely is what you want to see at an airshow 🙂
