Back at FSExpo I learned a little bit about the National STOL Competition and the eSTOL competition which mirrors the real world competition at different locations around the United States and brings it to Microsoft Flight Simulator. It’s really cool! I’m watching it live right now and its worth watching!
Competitive takeoff and landing
Featuring a variety of bushplanes and some very competitive flyers, the National eSTOL competition is broadcast live on the National STOL YouTube channel. As I said in the introduction, the eSTOL competition mirrors the real world STOL competition with scenery setup to match some of the real world locales.
We’re live in Microsoft Flight Simulator for our next eSTOL competition! You’ve heard of eSports? NOW it’s time for eSTOL! We’re in Microsoft Flight Simulator for the eSTOL competition at Clarion, PA. Watch as our competitors lay it all out to get the best scores!
My friend Jon Coughlin (currently working on Scramble: Battle of Britain) is one of the competitors and you can see the logos for several sim communities on there including Stormbirds, SkywardFM, Stug.io, FlightSimDaddy.com and Wolfpack345.

I’ve been doing some practice with Jon for this competition just to get a feel for it and I’ve got a flight journal coming up sometime later. I can say right now, however, that it’s a real challenge!
