I’ve described this game as a live action interactive TacView style game where you choose the tactics, turn by turn, dueling against the AI and using advanced physics and damage modeling to make for an interesting albeit slightly more casual dogfight experience.
New version for everyone to try
Steam’s Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Steam Fest, starts tomorrow and one of the participants is Scramble Battle of Britain. Being developed by Slitherine Games, as I mentioned in the introduction, this game is a turn based dogfight game that mixes flight physics and complex damage modeling together with a slightly more accessible tactical dogfight game. DCS and IL-2 fans, think of this as a TacView style experience except you’re in control, turn by turn, dictating the course of the dogfight.

The game is really shaping up to be something interesting. I think if you’re interested in upping your dogfighting ante you may want to look into this as a training tool to take you out of the cockpit and become more immersed in the bigger picture of the dogfight.
Want to get a closer look at how it plays? Check out this Twitch.TV presentation by Jon Coughlin, Lead Developer of the game, as he shows off some of the mechanics of the game and answers questions from the audience as he plays.
Grab the demo on Steam and look for the update coming in tomorrow which adds in the Bf109 as a controllable type and the Bf110 as a target. More aircraft are eventually going to be added to the game as time goes on so look for that too.
