Some good news coming out of VIRPIL Controls as the company has surpassed their targeted Kickstarter goal for their Advanced Flight Simulator Yoke. The company initially went with the Kickstarter to see if they would be able to attract enough attention from simmers to go forward with the project. With ten days to go before the end of the Kickstarter, it’s clear that they’ve hit their target. The other piece of news about the project is that they have made some adjustments to the design and I think some of you are going to like it. Let’s have a look!
Kickstarter success, redesign in place

VIRPIL have been successful with their Kickstarter effort on the Advanced Flight Yoke. The yoke system is aimed at flight simmers who fly aircraft equipped primarily with yokes and space sim pilots who are interested in flying primarily larger aircraft. With three yoke handles and interchangeable control panels, the yoke follows VIRPIL’s tradition of offering a core control system and then a variety of accessories to let you set the hardware up the way you want it.
VIRPIL has 10-days left in their Kickstarter and they have blasted past their funding goal. The campaign will continue to the end with a 35% discount off the target price for backers.
A redesign

The other piece of news around this project is that the design has now been updated. They’ve received plenty of feedback, including maybe some of the discussions that happened here on this blog, and they have now configured the yoke with left and right side interchangeable panels.
We’ve been working around the clock on the fantastic feedback we’ve had on the upcoming VPC Advanced Flight Yoke – we’re excited to showcase the latest update!
The Advanced Flight Yoke design has now been updated so that the control panel face plates are fully interchangeable between the left and right side allowing for even greater versatility and customisation!
So, if you want your gear lever on the left you can or you can move it over to the right side as just one example. Nice!
Taking feedback and rapidly prototyping the project in public has clearly been a useful process and VIRPIL has smartly worked to adjust course as necessary while they work to bring a new category into their portfolio.
Looking forward to hearing more about the project!
