A new feature is coming soon to the DCS: AH-64D enabling radar equipped AH-64’s to scan for and engage airborne targets with 360 degree coverage. Let’s have a look!
Scanning, engaging
Matt Wagner is back with a new video for the DCS: AH-64D and this one is focused on a new radar air targeting mode for the DCS: AH-64D. The Air Targeting Mod or ATM gives options for wide, medium, narrow and zoom with 360 degree scanning available in the wide mode.
The system can identify types of targets and prioritize moving or hovering targets. Like most of the AH-64D’s capabilities, there’s a lot of depth and detail here with the system offering the pilot and CPG a ton of awareness around ground targets.
ATM will give pilots the ability to engage targets with the gun and with Hellfire missiles. US versions of this helicopter don’t have the ability to carry the Stinger missile though some export versions do. Eagle Dynamics says they are sticking with the US version for this simulation.
