The ATR for Microsoft Flight Simulator has recently seen a significant update bringing in four new variants including the long awaited freighter and STOL variants of the aircraft along with a lengthy list of fixes. Unfortunately, new bugs were also part of the mix. An update has arrived that fixes some but not quite all of the recently introduced bugs. Let’s have a look
Updates for the updates

I have a soft spot for Microsoft and Hans Hartmann’s ATR 42-600 and 72-600 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. As one of the very few turboprop airliners in the sim at the moment and the first airliner that really clicked with me, the ATR is a type that I come back to time and time again. It isn’t, however, a perfect experience and the community have identified a number of bugs – most small but not entirely inconsequential.
The latest update, bringing the aformentioned new variants including a couple of new Highline cabin options (mostly a cosmetic thing) and the STOL and Freighter variants to the mix. Unfortunately there were new bugs introduced including a weight and balance issue on the Freighter causing it to pull to the right. That, a reversed tooltip, and a broken animation for the aircraft’s propellers have all been fixed on the 72-600F. The broken propeller animation on the STOL version unfortunately remains for the moment.
Here’s the complete change list:
- Fixed ATR 72-600F pulling to the right
- Fixed propeller animation for ATR 72-600F
- Known Issue: the propeller animation for the ATR 42-600S has not yet been fixed
- Fixed ATR 42-600 Highline not producing enough power for takeoff
- Fixed Battery lock reversed tooltip state
- Fixed EFB loading for 72-600 Freighter
- Fixed power cut in CRZ mode in 42-600 Standard
