1C Game Studios picked one heck of a day to release Flying Circus Vol 4 with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 soaking up a lot of the attention today. However, with the server problems ongoing over there you’d think that maybe this sim would eek out a small win with an easy to download patch. That didn’t quite go according to plan either but it is out, there is new stuff, there’s updated old stuff and we’re going to have a look at it so let’s go!
Updated: Links to the store, a new trailer has been released since I wrote this, and there’s an update on the server situation.
Slow downloads, new title launch, other tweaks

Update 5.504 is now live and the headline feature of the latest update is that Flying Circus Vol IV is now done and out. Unlike past launches, this one has been an all at once update with all of the aircraft and updates arriving at once. The aircraft list includes the Airco D.H.2, Albatros D.III, Fokker E.III, Sopwith Pup, Sopwith 1½ Strutter B single-seat fighters, and the Roland C.IIa and Sopwith 1½ Strutter two-seater.
The Western Front map, core to the entire series, has also picked up additional details including the addition of Paris on the map. I personally plan on flying under the Eiffel tower!
There are some other stand-out items in the change log for this update. The Bf109G-4 and G-6 have increased operating time in emergency modes. The Nieuport 28 has had a flight model improvement with increased climb and reduced turn time improving the overall maneuverability of the type – a long standing issue in the Flying Circus and Rise of Flight communities. The Tempest Mark V has also seen a flight model update.
There are also various fixes to Career mode covering various bugs in different types of missions as well as providing an altitude increase for free hunts and bomber interception missions in Western Front missions (where the altitude was typically higher).
In a somewhat ironic turn, those looking to update early on with this update were also met with patch update problems. Not nearly to the scale that MSFS 2024 is facing right now but I know my download for this was stuck for a couple of hours before completing.
Download from our Amazon server is very very slow right now, the reason is not yet known.

By now it seems like it may have been resolved but be prepared for the occasional slowdown. As always with these things, buckle up, wait it out, and eventually that download should complete.
Pricing
In my haste this afternoon, I neglected a key piece to this update. The pricing! Flying Circus Vol 4 is now available via the 1CGS store for $63.99 – regularly $79.99 USD. This appears to be similar to the early access discount on offer previously, however, with no early access period it seems that we’ve instead got an early discount. No word on how long that will last.
The product hasn’t shown up on Steam yet but I imagine that will be in the works shortly.
New trailer out
A new trailer has come out advertising the recent addition to the series.
Improved download speeds
Those of you with download problems persisting are being encouraged to stop the download, shut down the updater, and start again. 1CGS has put another server in place to help boost speeds.
We’ve put up another fast mirror server. If your launcher is still struggling with downloading the update, please close it and run again – it should download the remaining data from the new server fast.
Hopefully that helps some of you folks out!
