Caught up in all of the changes made to DCS on other modules, Echo 19’s work on the DCS: OH-58D’s new sounds were kind of lost in the mix but a new video from the team showcases the soundwork that has been implemented to improve the module. Let’s have a look and a listen!

New audio now available

DCS: OH-58D has new sounds! The work has been done by partnership between Polychop Simulations, the creator of the helicopter for DCS World and Echo 19 who are a sound development group. Here’s a little of what they had to say:

We’ve spent several months recording, editing, and integrating a refreshed sound set for the Kiowa. It has brand-new sounds from startup to shutdown, several additions, a new M3P gun sound, and much more.

Echo 19

Capturing the distinctive sounds of the OH-58 saw the Echo 19 team go out and record a close cousin of the scout helicopter. That together with new cockpit interaction sounds and new sounds for the M3P .50cal machine gun and you have a lot of the critiques of the modules sound work sorted out. From the video it sounds really exceptional. Have a listen!

  1. Unlikely I’ll ever get this chopper, my brain cells are too occupied with the choppers I have now, but that did sound pretty sweet.

    1. It’s really great! Flies very easily, yet still feels like a helo, unlike the Black Shark & Chinook. 😉

Highly recommended, and I LOVE flying with the doors off!

Still need to get into this one. It’s just a matter of time for me! 🙂

  2. Love the new sounds in re the airframe!

With the exception of the M3. Sitting forward of the muzzle on one of those is EXTREMELY loud and punishing, and that just doesn’t come across at all…

Still, the module is now better than it was, so I’m happpy! 🙂
