Another airliner has made the jump to MSFS 2024 with iniBuilds A300-600R(F) making the jump to the new sim earlier today. The airliner is available for first time customers as well as with a MSFS 2020 upgrade package that comes with a free compatible version as well as a premium upgrade.

Free and paid updates

iniBuilds have updated their A300-600R(F) airliner to bring it up to spec for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The update comes in two pieces with a free update for 2020 owners that offers basic compatibility while a premium paid update adds additional 2024 features to the mix.

There are some caveats to the free update. The folks at iniBuilds reports that the compatible version is going to be considered a beta update for now with a short list of known issues. They are listed as:

  • Terrain Display
  • Loss of overhead Korry switch and ambient packs/bleed sounds when switching views
  • Random TCAS RA errors from own plane
  • Networking issue highlighted in greater detail below

These and other compatibility related issues they do intend to fix so free update users will not be left in the lurch.

MSFS 2024 enables more detailed simulation of aircraft components with various data points visually on display in this graphic.

If you decide to purchase new for 2024 (£44.99) or own the 2020 version and want to do the £9.99 update, there’s quite a bit more on offer to help sweeten the deal. We start with flight model improvements with enhanced aerodynamics using the new MSFS 2024 system with more accurate handling with special mention to how the aircraft flies in a crosswind. There’s also adjustments to the drag profile and improved ground handling. Dynamic wheel deformation responds to aircraft weight, tire pressure and load distribution.

The 2024 version has new preflight walk-around capabilities that integrate with the advanced wear system. Cargo doors and engine cowlings open and close, and entry and exit points are functional. They report that the aircraft stairs are functional too so you can walk up them to the aircraft. Even better (and something all MSFS 2024 aircraft should have), the EFB has controllable covers and chocks settings so you can simplify the walk-around process if you want.

Performance improvements gets a section with the aircraft taking advantage of the more modular system for 2024 which should reduce load times and storage requirements while improving the levels of detail without compromising the visuals. I’m looking forward to checking that out.

They also mention sound and visual improvements and tweaks too. Liveries need to be remade and so a smaller list of compatible options is on hand at the moment with more expected later.

Read about all of the changes here on the iniBuilds forum and visit the iniBuilds store to check out the upgrade and purchase information if you’re checking out the aircraft for the first time.
